As I said in my last post, this week is really busy! I promise I haven't forgotten about posting, I am just waiting for some free time to put actual thought/effort into my post. So come Sunday or Monday I will make an Orientation post about all that's gone on throughout the week. I have lots of pictures!!

I have been up for twenty eight hours at this point and am becoming quite delirious, but my adventure does not stop! Since my last post I have obviously endured a painfully long flight during which I could not get a wink of sleep. Such a bummer! Shortly after landing in Praha, however, I was reunited with my boo Timmy, which gave me a second wind. We waited for a few other NYU study abroad students to file into terminal two of the Prague airport before we were loaded onto a shuttle (er- rather a gawdy lime green hippyish bus) and dropped off at the front steps of my new home!
I could not have been more fortunate with the location of my residence hall and with my lovely suite mates. First of all, we're located right across the street from a gorgeous picnicy park that reminds me of Washington Square. It's a little taste of home while I'm miles away. We're steps from a popular square (which I cannot for the life of me pronounce-namesti muri or something like that) that apparently is often busy and filled with fun things to do, watch, see, buy, etc. Blocks away lies another park that boasts fantastic views of the city and the castle and is home to two biergartens, which I plan to frequent. Slezska is also conveniently located near tram, subway, and bus stops, and is walking distance from most of the popular bars, clubs, and general nightlife of Prague.
As if the location wasn't enough, the actual building is gorgeous. It's charming and rustic with a terrace, amazing views from all windows, and great amenities. My room is decently sized as well- a great upgrade from the closet I lived in back in Manhattan. I have a balcony in my room that overlooks the terrace, a walk in closet, an antique armoir, and so much room for activities. There's a nice communal kitchen upstairs with a TV loft area above it as well as a smaller communal kitchen in the basement. Like all NYU residence halls there's a silent study lounge and a laundry room. Everything I could need is conveniently located within the building. Plus, Timmy is only a four minute walk away!
Here are some pictures of my home for the next four months:
This week will be super busy with orientation shenanigans all day every day, so I don't think I will update y'all until after orientation. No worries, though, I will write a catchall update of the week as soon as i can! Including (spoiler alert!) My AMAZING experience taking my first sip of Czech beer!
Na ZdravĂ!

Time to Depart
Dobry Den!
You probably want to know what this blog is all about. Well, like most college kids, I'm creating this so that my friends and family can keep tabs on my life while I'm studying abroad in the Czech Republic. Mostly, I'm doing this so that I don't have to feel tied to my phone throughout the entire experience. I won't be able to call, text, or *gasp* snapchat very often, so this will be the best way to make sure I'm not dead and that my organs aren't being harvested by post soviet Czech drug lords (that's a thing, right?)
I knew I would be studying abroad in Prague months ago, but like most everything else I do I have put off creating this blog until now: ten minutes before I'm supposed to leave for the airport. Just like I put off packing until last night, and calling the bank to inform them of my travels until an hour ago. At least it's all getting done, last minute or not. My bags are packed, my first post is nearly uploaded, and I'm officially ready for takeoff! At least physically if not mentally.
On that note, I'm quickly running out of time, so I'm off! Bon voyage, safe travels, pictures to come, and I'll see you all in Praha.
With Love,
Katie Lawson
PS: For those who wish to send me postcards, my mailing address in Prague is as follows:
Male namesti 2, 110 00 Prague 1, Czech Republic
And please note that I will respond to postcards!
