I could not have been more fortunate with the location of my residence hall and with my lovely suite mates. First of all, we're located right across the street from a gorgeous picnicy park that reminds me of Washington Square. It's a little taste of home while I'm miles away. We're steps from a popular square (which I cannot for the life of me pronounce-namesti muri or something like that) that apparently is often busy and filled with fun things to do, watch, see, buy, etc. Blocks away lies another park that boasts fantastic views of the city and the castle and is home to two biergartens, which I plan to frequent. Slezska is also conveniently located near tram, subway, and bus stops, and is walking distance from most of the popular bars, clubs, and general nightlife of Prague.
As if the location wasn't enough, the actual building is gorgeous. It's charming and rustic with a terrace, amazing views from all windows, and great amenities. My room is decently sized as well- a great upgrade from the closet I lived in back in Manhattan. I have a balcony in my room that overlooks the terrace, a walk in closet, an antique armoir, and so much room for activities. There's a nice communal kitchen upstairs with a TV loft area above it as well as a smaller communal kitchen in the basement. Like all NYU residence halls there's a silent study lounge and a laundry room. Everything I could need is conveniently located within the building. Plus, Timmy is only a four minute walk away!
Here are some pictures of my home for the next four months:
This week will be super busy with orientation shenanigans all day every day, so I don't think I will update y'all until after orientation. No worries, though, I will write a catchall update of the week as soon as i can! Including (spoiler alert!) My AMAZING experience taking my first sip of Czech beer!
Na ZdravĂ!
